ABSTRACT

The central concept of the application is to allow the customer to shop virtually using the Internet and allows customers to buy the items and articles of their desire from the store. The information pertaining to the products are stores on an RDBMS at the server side (store). The Server processes the customers and the items are shipped to the address submitted by them. The application was designed into two modules first Os for the customers who wish to buy the articles. Second is for the storekeepers who maintains and updates the information pertaining to the articles and those of the customers? The end user of this product is a departmental store where the application is hosted on the web and the administrator maintains the database. The application, which is deployed at the customer database, the details of the items are brought forward from the database for the customer view based on the selection through the menu and the database of all the products are updated at the end of each transaction. Data entry into the application can be done through various screens designed for various levels of users. Once the authorized personnel feed the relevant data into the system, several reports could be generated as per the security.

INTRODUCTION

The proposed system for the above discussed existing system easily provides solution to the biggest problem of going global and still not opening the stores in all parts of the world with the local product through the site’s website. Maintenance and addition of further features are also cost effective in terms of the profits obtained.

                In addition the site also provides several features for the administrators and for the Newsletters of the new products.

The Online Shopping System (OSS) is intended to provide complete solutions for vendors as well as customers through a single get way using the internet. It will enable vendors to setup online shops, customer to browse through the shop and purchase them online without having to visit the shop physically. The administration module will enable a system administrator to approve and reject requests for new shops and maintain various lists of shop category.

Objective Of The Project

The main purpose of “Online shopping” is to provide the Shopping related services on the Internet. This software also helps to automate the process of ordering the books in home using internet . The goals of “ Online Shopping” are:

· To automate the time consuming process to purchases products online.

· To advertise the new products available in  Internet.

· To manage the records of customers, Product Details, Stock Details.

· To provide a searchable database of all customers and accounts.

· To minimize the amount of paper work required in the daily  services.

· To provide an interface so that user can take advantage of anytime, anywhere Shopping.
